A tribute to a true friend, Sophie

On December 27th, 2022, I lost my beloved cat, Sophie.

Sophie wasn’t just a cat to me. I don’t think she was just a cat to anyone. Everyone loved her: dog lovers, animal haters, the allergic, even my mother. She just had this way of putting you in a good mood just by being there.

She was WEIRD. She loved being brushed more than treats. She would demand that you pet her in the right spots (her neck, her back). She made you move boxes to very specific locations so she had a nice sitting spot.

Sophie was around for a lot. She was there when I pulled many all nighters in college. She was there when I got my bachelor’s degree. She was there when I got my first big girl job. She was there when I got my first apartment. She was even there when I decided to write my first jokes to tell at an open mic.

I’m going to be honest. I have not been feeling great since her passing. I miss her a lot. I miss her when I cook. I miss her when I sleep. I miss feeding her in the mornings.

I know time will heal everything. In the meantime, I’ve dedicated a little spot for my friend. I’m hoping the pictures in this gallery will warm your heart as much as she warmed mine.
